Description: Discharge Point (DP):Typically the end point of a pipe, culvert, channel, swale, or ditch that discharges from the Caltrans right-of-way (ROW) into a storm water system, water of the US, or other property not owned by Caltrans. The last known point at which stormwater leaves Caltrans ROW.Tributary Drainage Area (TDA):The area within the Caltrans ROW that contributes storm water directly to associated Caltrans storm water structures. Defined by both a legal boundary (ROW) and a hydraulic boundary which guides the flow of water. The TDA is the area draining runoff to a discharge point and includes all the upstream inlets and outfalls that direct water to that point.Outfall:The end point of a pipe that daylights within the Caltrans ROW and then releases to a discharge point.Inlet:A feature that collects storm water and directs it into a Caltrans storm water system.Facility:A Caltrans facility (park and ride, maintenance station, vista, rest area, etc.)Best Management Practices (BMP): An approved treatment control system that is listed in the Project Planning and Design Guide, Appendix B (CTSW-RT-10-254.03).These features are largely based on the work plan developed previously for Phase II data inventory (Phase II Storm Drain System Inventory Work Plan, December 2005) with the following changes: Treatment BMPs will be mapped as areas instead of as point locations and will include both existing BMPs and potential BMP sites (with a focus on medium and high priority reach areas of the Caltrans NPDE Permit Attachment IV TMDL watersheds located outside the previous Phase II SDSI data areas), Documentation of the most likely connectivity between inventoried inlets and outfalls. This connectivity will not result in a new feature set, but will be captured using attributes existing defined features (e.g., outfalls and inlets). Potential Treatment Best Management Practices (PT_BMP): An area within the Caltrans ROW that could be utilized to construct a treatment BMP. Potential Treatment BMP locations shall be identified by the field crews using the following criteria:There is available right of way to possibly place an infiltration basin or bio-swale; andOpen flat area, within the right of way, that is an eligible area to place potential BMP (near discharge point)Connectivity:Feature connectivity represents the flow of water leaving the tributary drainage area throught the discharge pointCommon NameData FieldRequired in SOWDescriptionValidation (Valid Value Table in Capital Letters)Collection MethodT-BMPDPInletOutfallTDAAs-built Diagram ReferenceAS_BUILT Enter the Caltrans Expenditure Authorization (EA) number on the as-built plans to define the feature.
